Who We Are
Founded in 2018, Potentialist is a consulting firm with offices in San Francisco and Tokyo, specializing in helping US-funded startups enter the Asia-Pacific market. Our clients include companies backed by top-tier venture capital firms in the US. In 2025, we will leverage our hands-on experience to launch a new investment business. As we embark on this exciting journey, we are looking for a few long-term interns (whom we call Junior Analysts) to join our team.
What You'll Do
As a Junior Analyst, you will participate in various projects and collaborate closely with the team.
Go-To-Market Strategy Development:
Build Go-To-Market strategies for startups expanding into the APAC market.
Strategy Execution in Local Markets:
Support the execution of strategy in Japan/APAC and collaborate with key clients and companies.
Deal Sourcing and Analysis:
Market research to support the preparation of launching a venture capital fund.
Identify potential investment opportunities and create analysis materials.
You’re Good at
Organized, detail-oriented, and analytical; able to synthesize meetings and communicate key insights clearly (via email, slides, etc.)
Strong interpersonal skills; inquisitive and able to ask clarifying questions
Self-starter with limited direction; skilled at prioritizing and assessing trade-offs
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
What You’ll Bring
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bilingual in Japanese and English (TOEFL ibt 90+ / IELTS Lv.7+ or equivalent)
Preferably younger students with high commitment capabilities
Prior work/ co-op experience required
Collaborative, humble, and performance-oriented mindset
Passion for startups, eagerness to learn, and an interest in the professional world
Minimum commitment of 15 hours per week
Nice to Have:
Experience at startups or financial firms/funds
Located within 60 minutes from Tokyo Station
Who You'll Work With
You will work closely with the Strategy Execution Team (SET) to co-execute Go-To-Market strategies in Japan and the APAC region. This SET team consists of professionals with backgrounds in management consulting and investment banking.
